Dinghy Explore Kingsbridge Estuary/ Collapit Creek/ Blanksmill Creek EP10
Continuing from Salt Stone crossing the navigation channel of Kingsbridge Estuary & into the peaceful Collapit Creek up to the high tide limit., here I am running late to return home so its a quick finish at Blanksmill & return a few days later at half tide & a chance to see Blanksmill relatively empty.
(in EP11 I enter the Creek pushed by a strong wind, where we see the Creek entrance in a very different sea state & I come face to face with the most dangerous and powerful surge I have ever seen whilst on the water).

Dinghy Explore Frogmore Creek (against the tide)/ Salt Stone/ Return to Kingsbridge Estuary EP9
Просмотров 679 часов назад
Wind conditions now allowing me to leave Frogmore Creek, but against the tide, so its a battle vs the tidal waters to get back down to the Salt Stone, which offers a short stop off to recover (on EP10 the Kingsbridge Estuary is crossed and into another series of Creeks, those being Collapit and Blanksmill).

I've only given myself a month to finish this whole series so here I've attempted to move through the Estuary complex propelled by strong wind & tide which severely speeds up the whole process. At the high tide limit of Frogmore Creek (plan B) has been activated which is to abandon the boat at the top of Frogmore & return at a later date when conditions allow. (plan A was to return back down th...

Around the mid-way point of this series as we ease back down Southpool Creek looking at a tiny Harbour on the north shore. As battles go taking on the falling tide in the narrow funnel gap between Scoble Point and Snapes Point was minor compared to some of the battles which are due to hit in later episodes as the wind and surge begins to ramp up, but taking on anything of this scale there is al...

All clips taken on the 23 August 2024, the start of a long Bank Holiday weekend, beginning in the morning with the remnants of Storm Lilian. The 'funnel like' Bristol Channel has a huge height difference between high and low tides, some times up to 10 metres (but much larger in the upper reaches), these are fast, strong and dangerous tides.

(Obviously been a busy August & often been offline for 3-4 days at a time, comments segment to be restored after the upcoming Summer Bank Holiday). The eastern extremities of the Salcombe Kingsbridge Estuary complex takes us up into Southpool Creek, the tide is reasonably high at the tidal limit, lifting almost up to road level & actually over the road at one point. A tidal ford operates in the...

Entering Waterhead Creek which contains a ruined Corn Mill. Up at the high tide limit is a public footpath which has stepping stones but these are submerged on high spring tides, along with the lane which runs alongside the creek, which becomes unpassable on large high tides in a number of places.

Now moving with the tide following the coast round into Southpool Creek, vast swathes of moored boats are passed before reaching the quieter Horsepool Cove & another set of Lime Kilns on the shoreside. Another turn just short of Gullet Point into Waterhead Creek (in EP5 we find the remains of a former Corn Mill near the high tide limit).

Why did you remove the speedwalks? Was it because of strangers being filmed without permission, or music rights, or something else? Maybe I can learn from it as a beginning youtube uploader. Thanks

Double stabilisation is the issue, it narrows the area in shot, then going uphill it cuts out some of the horizon, its easier filmed on flattish land. Still have a few speedwalks on the channel.

@@sandpit72 So I guess you use a phone? I'm aware that stabilization reduces the view angle. I film with my phone and the angles are not as wide as I would like using just enough stabilization. I wanted to get the optimal camera angle in the verical direction, but not more than horizontal. That's how I ended up filming 1:1 aspect ratio. It doesn't look appealing, especially on tv, so I'm considering buying an action camera. But that's quite expensive.

Just for anyone else watching this, the Salt Stone is a conservation area and it's highly recommended that no one sets foot on it as it's highly susceptible to trampling and disturbance. There's no risk of a fine or anything but plenty of people seem unaware of the designation. I don't think the upper shore line where you were is a key area but the lower shore areas should definitely be avoided.

What a sad 😔 😞 😢 year for 2020 with the COVID - Coronavirus Disease 🦠 lockdown. It felt like 👍 ❤️ a bank 🏦 holiday or Sunday everyday and there were restrictions that if anyone breaks the rules by going out when they are not suppose to, they could be arrested by the police 👮‍♀️ 👮 👮‍♂️ , face unlimited fines and it serve them right. What a nasty 🤢 🤮 😷 year that happened. Don’t worry 😉 about it now is because it’s water 🚿 💦 💧 under the bridge 🌁 🌉. People have to wash 🧼 🧽 their hands 🙌 and wear face masks 😷 🎭 so it keeps everyone safe. It’s unbelievable thing to happen. In 2020, 2021 and 2022 I’ve cried 😭 to myself. It’s all now in the past.
